About us

Estorium is a public benefit foundation registered in Bulgaria whose main activity is the support and development of the eponymous cause.

Estorium is also a growing community of people who believe that every person on earth deserves to have their image, their voice, the movement of their body, and the beauty of their spirit preserved not only today but also for those who come after us.

Who are we?

Atanas Hristoskov

Founder of Estorium
Atanas Hristoskov was born in Sofia in 1976. He graduated from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) with a degree in Economics and obtained a Film Directing degree at New Bulgarian University (NBU). His first acting debut, the movie "N1" ("Number One"), was awarded the Golden Rose Award for Best Bulgarian Feature Film in 2011. His filmography also includes the feature film "18", the documentary "Stories just like the movies", and the interactive film "The Generation".

Dragomir Dimchev

Management Board member
Dragomir Dimchev was born in Kavarna in 1985. He continued his higher education at the National Academy of Theatre & Film Arts "Krustyo Sarafov" , being taught by the likes of Professor Venets Dimitrov. He was the chief cinematographer in National Geographic’s "The Spark". He has shot numerous documentary projects, short films, music videos, and commercials.
 
 
 

Martin Balkanski

Management Board member
Martin Balkanski was born in Sofia in 1982. He is a New Bulgarian University graduate. He was the chief cinematographer of two feature films - "Dose of Happiness" and "18"; 6 TV series, including "Devil’s Throat", "The Tree of Life", and "Stolen Life"; short movies and documentaries, as well as music videos and commercials. In his career as a cinematographer, he is credited with productions like "TILT", "Sneakers", "Stereo Love", "Bullet Head", "Red Light", "London Has Fallen", "Ungiven", "88MHz", "The Motorbike", "Family Relics", "Enemies", and more.
 
 

Velianna Kasheva

Creative Project Manager
Velianna Kasheva was born in 1989. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" in addition to a master’s degree in Film Directing under the instruction of Professor Georgi Dyulgerov at New Bulgarian University. She has authored several documentary projects. She made her directing debut in filmmaking in the short movie series "Tracks of Time" and "Hitchhiking Happiness", which have both been awarded in three screenplay competitions. Velianna has been part of the filmmaking teams of "Directions", "A Dose of Happiness", and "Humble", as well as the creative crew of NO BLINK studio.
 
 

Hristo Neykov

Head of Field and Scientific Research
Since 2004, Hristo has been actively involved in recording and archiving intangible cultural heritage through field research - interviews, observations, and participant observation. This includes household and ritual practices, oral and musical folklore, games, and more. The collected materials serve the needs of both contemporary ethnography and folklore studies, becoming part of collections, articles and works, as well as the needs of the general public. He is the author of the Facebook group ”OtVremeOno” (From a time long gone)- a publicly accessible space where his pieces are regularly posted and debated upon.
 

Denis Galenkov

Camera operator and photographer
Denis Galenkov was born in Blagoevgrad in 1995. He has studied cinematography at the National Film School in Lodz, Poland. He then obtained a bachelor’s in Photography in Falmouth, England. He has worked as a camera operator and camera assistant in a number of feature films, documentaries, and commercials in Poland, Belgium, England, and Bulgaria.
 

Megan Krasteva

Project Manager
Megan Krasteva obtained her bachelor’s in Cultural Studies at the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski. She is interested in anthropology and, specifically, in research related to intangible cultural heritage, religious syncretism, and marginalized communities. She sees potential in the development of the nongovernmental sector in Bulgaria and is involved in project writing in the field of Culture. Megan believes in the notion of combining science and art to discover the world in its fullest and most compelling forms.
 

Roumyana Bobeva

Project Manager
Roumyana Bobeva was born in 1992. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Economics in Lille, France, and her master's in Tourism in Oxford, UK. She is involved in various activities in the fields of event organization, tourism and volunteering. Having lived and worked in many countries around the world, she believes in the importance of not only the physical journey but also one’s soul journey.
 

Stoyan Stoyanov

Storyteller
Stoyan Stoyanov was born in Stara Zagora in 1998. He holds a bachelor's in Cultural Studies from the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He is currently working towards a master’s in Cultural Anthropology. He is driven by the ambition to explore and delve deeper into cultural and social issues. His interests focus on oral history, people, and societies’ perceptions, as well as misinformation and conspiracy theories, theatre, nature, and volunteering.
